How fast is your website?
Google scores every website from 0 to 100 on how quickly it loads on a phone. Run Google's free test on your site, then see what your score means for your business.
What your score means
These are Google's own bands. We build every site to score in the top band on mobile, and we aim for 100.
- 90 to 100
Fast
Visitors see your page almost right away. Keep it there as you add content.
- 50 to 89
Needs work
The page loads, but slowly enough that some visitors leave before they read anything.
- 0 to 49
Slow
Most phone visitors wait several seconds or more. This is costing you calls and form fills.
We ran the test on our own site first
Our old website scored 30 on mobile. After the rebuild it scores 100, and the main content shows up in 0.9 s instead of 34.5 s.
What usually slows a site down
- Page builders and heavy themes
- Drag-and-drop builders load code for every feature they offer, whether your page uses it or not.
- Plugins and add-on scripts
- Chat widgets, sliders, trackers and plugins each add their own files, and they all load before the page settles.
- Large images
- Photos uploaded straight from a camera or phone can be ten times bigger than the screen needs.
- Slow or shared hosting
- Budget hosting puts your site on a crowded server, so even the first byte takes a while to arrive.

Speed test questions
Is the speed test free?
Yes. The button opens PageSpeed Insights, Google’s own free tool. We do not see your results unless you share them with us.
Should I look at the mobile score or the desktop score?
Mobile. Most customers find a local business on their phone, and Google looks at the mobile version of your site first. The mobile test simulates a mid-range phone on a slower connection, so its score is usually lower than desktop.
Why did my score change when I ran it again?
Every run is a fresh test, so scores move a few points between runs. Run it two or three times and look at the typical result.
Does speed affect my Google ranking?
Page experience, including loading speed, is one of many things Google considers. A fast site will not rank on speed alone, but a slow one loses visitors before they ever read about you.
